Legislative District 59
The existing 59th district should not be modified. Any attempt to consolidate that district or to draw it any further west overlooks the significant differences in the composition of eastern and western Westmoreland county. The 59th is largely rural and contains areas that lack adequate internet access. To place the representation of this district further into central/western Westmoreland county would likely result in significant travel time to access the legislative offices. The current configuration provides for the greatest and most accessible offices in the Ligonier Valley area as well as those parts of the western Somerset Ridge area. Further, the economic interests of the more industrial dense towns of central/western Westmoreland county do not align properly with those more rural interests of the Ligonier Valley and Somerset Ridge. Therefore I request that the redrawing of legislative district lines avoid modification of the current 59th district.
