Comments regarding HD 155 redistricting map

Dear Legislative Reapportionment Commission members, I am a constituent in House District 155 who resides in Uwchlan Township. I would like to share concerns about the proposed redistricting map for HD 155. In this densely populated suburban area with many roads, businesses and schools in the Downingtown Area School District that have much in common and share services, it is beneficial to have a compact district with contiguous municipalities. The proposed map is an approvement because there are many municipalities in the current 155th district far from one another and are currently there are four regional school districts represented here. There are several new municipalities in the proposed 155, one of which is the Borough of Downingtown. It would be advisable to add East Caln Township which surrounds Downingtown to the north and east. East Caln Township is connected by major roads to Uwchlan and other townships in HD 155. East Caln is also in the Downingtown Area School District and shares police, emergency and other community focused services with Downingtown Borough. This would be in the best interest of both communities, Downingtown and East Caln to be located in HD 155. The other concern for House District 155 is the split of Caln Township into two separate House Districts: 155 and 74. This is split of precincts in the township would not be in the best interest of the community. Caln is currently in House District 74 and shares much with the services and community interests with the City of Coatesville and is in the Coatesville School District. All of Caln Township should remain in the 74th House for these reasons. Thank you very much for your consideration of these concerns regarding House Districts 155 and 74.
