Protect the 168th State House District
To the Commission: I am an Edgmont Township Supervisor. Since 1971, the 168th was always comprised of Media Borough, Middletown, Edgmont and Thornbury townships. The proposed state legislative preliminary redistricting plan would place these four municipalities, which have been linked for over 50 years in FOUR different state house districts, the 160th, 161st, 165th and 168th. This plan would also divide the Rose Tree Media and the Marple Newtown school districts into THREE different house districts, partition the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District in two and split Middletown Township in half. This redistricting plan is unnecessarily disruptive to our community and Delaware County. It will dilute our community’s influence in state government and risk permanently diminishing our schools, libraries, civic organizations and municipal governments. On behalf of the residents of Edgmont Township, I implore the Commission to reevaluate the lines for the 168th and protect our beloved community. Thank you.
