Concern Regarding Re-Districting plan
I am concerned with the proposed re-districting plan for House District 60. Ideally, in a perfect world, Armstrong County should be it own house district. The population lines up relatively neatly to the current population needed per district. However, minimally, House District 60 (Armstrong County District) should include Kittanning, the county seat. In turn, the Lower Burrell portion ceded from the plan to be part of House District 55. The rationale is that the current plan divides both Armstrong and Burrell school districts into two legislative districts. Being on the Leechburg School Board 10 years and it VP and Lenape Technical Joint Operating Committee and it Chairman, I know first hand the dilemma a divided school district poses. Making the small tweak (Add Kittanning and cede Lower Burrell) in the map would assist our greatly in our various operations.
