Redistricting Upper Southampton Township Is Unfair
As a long-time homeowner and business owner (both of which are located in Upper Southampton) I strongly object to the redrawn PA house district map. Upper Southampton is one of the oldest communities in PA dating back to 1682. We are sick and tired of our house district getting drawn and re-drawn more times than I care to count. It seems every ten years, our rep is pulled away from us. In the last election our state rep won with nearly 70% of the vote in the 142nd District. Now less than one year into the current term the will of the people is being thrown to the wind in favor of political gerrymandering. Democrats in Upper Southampton and Northampton Townships should be furious as the new map virtually assures that a Democrat has virtually zero chance of winning in the newly gerrymandered 178th district. Redrawing districts is supposed to be fair and ensure each district is competitive. The new map does just the opposite.
