Save the 82nd

The proposed redistricting and elimination of the 82nd district is detrimental to many of the counties involved. Juniata and Mifflin Counties have shared numerous services and businesses and the redistricting proposal would interrupt and likely destroy many of those existing services. Juniata County especially stands to suffer if this preliminary plan is implemented. The representation would be limited and destroyed. Juniata County citizens already have to travel to take advantage of many services and if this plan goes into effect, those citizens would be forced to travel most likely into rural Perry County. Many agencies in the Juniata Valley already exist and are shared by Mifflin and Juniata Counties. This proposal would force the reorganization of various agencies. PLEASE consider the people who need to use the Mifflin Juniata Regional Services such as the Area Agency on Aging, Call-a Ride, Food Service Corporations, Counseling and senior tax preparation. I have a 91 year old mother who has recently been in need of some of these services and now that will all change. Why does it need to change? What are the advantages of splitting up counties and interrupting the State Police coverage, communications, Visitor's Bureau, EMS services and hospital. Please, please rethink this proposal and do what is best for the people of these counties. Consider that there are many of the older citizens who are the ones using these shared resources.
